The result of a strong dedication, work and constant learning, this wine project was born in 1989, by the hand of António Augusto Fernandes. At that time, the construction of the winery marked the start of the production of fortified and table wines.

New Generation

Nowadays, under the management of one of the founder’s sons, António Fernandes, after several expansion and requalification works, the winery has
2400m 2 producing around 450,000 liters of wine per year, sold in more than 16 countries around the world.

With an area of 50 hectares, spread over six farms, Quinta do Vale da Perdiz – Sociedade Agrícola, Lda has some of the best national and traditional varieties in the Douro Superior region. Cistus wines come from these varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Arinto, Fernão Pires and Rabigato.

Produced using excellent winemaking methods and techniques, Cistus wines combine a modern and appealing style with a unique “terroir”.

Our grape varieties

One of the main features of the Douro region is its abundance of traditional grape varieties. The reasons for this wealth are, on the one hand, related to history and, on the other, to the mountainous topography of the region.

Our wines are made with the most prestigious and traditional grapes varieties of the region such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Arinto, Fernão Pires and Rabigato, among many others, in order to take the best of Douro vineyards to your table.
